Our residential project is perhaps the medium where we can most impact children’s lives, since they live with us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Most of our residential pupils have come from remote villages, and are often many years behind in learning either due to learning difficulties or insufficient, or no, education. Many have lost parents or are extremely poor. Our residential school is currently home to 35 children, with over 85 more on a waiting list, each hoping for a chance to join us. We are delighted to announce that, thanks for your kind donations, we have secured funding for a further ten residential pupils, who will be joining us soon!

The curriculum we offer them:

  • The traditional Sanskrit education*:
    • We are currently teaching two of the four Vedas: Shukla Yajurveda and SamVeda with the aim of teaching all four.
    • Sanskrit grammar according to Panini’s Ashtadhyayi
    • Tarka Sangrah (Nyaya darshan): the ancient Indian system of logic and reasoning
    • Sahityam: Sanskrit melodic literature
    • Astrology (Jyotish)
  • The Western curriculum including:
    • Computer sciences
    • Social sciences
    • English
    • Hindi

Beyond education, we look after these children as our own, providing them with everything they need including:

  • daily care
  • food
  • clothing
  • medical care
  • on-site housing
  • keeping them in touch with and updating their families
  • outings such as playing cricket on the banks of the Ganges.

They practice daily yoga asanas (postures), pranayama (breathing) and meditation as the sun rises which we feel is key to their development both academically and spiritually.

Our residential project currently has a waiting list of more than 85 children, each hoping for a chance to join our 35 children. Fortunately, about 10 more new children will be joining soon thanks to your donations!

This perhaps is the medium where we can most impact children’s lives positively, since they live with us 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Due to the growing demand and success of the program, we ran out of living space for the children. Your generosity made it possible to rent a building where the children can sleep, instead of sleeping on the classroom floor / dining hall! Look out for more news on this!

You can support us by sponsoring a child for only £30 per month, or by making a one-off donation for fruit, bedding, clothes or study materials for the children. No donation is too small!
